Event Date: Sunday April 9, 2017
Event Location: Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Winkler
A joint concert of Winkler Community Male Choir and Prairie Singers.
April 9th is Palm Sunday and two choirs are joining voices to present a special concert entitled ‘In Harmony for Hope’. Although repertoire may not all be specific to celebrating the events of Palm Sunday, it will be mindful of the fact that this is a special day in the year of the Christian church.
‘In Harmony for Hope’ will feature two local choirs bringing their own repertoire of songs of hope, healing and community and then joining voices to form a mass choir. The concert is a celebration of 50 years of service to the church and the community. The evening will also include an opportunity to financially support the work of the various programs of Eden Health Care Services.
Additionally, 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Eden Mental Health Centre. In the years leading up to 1967 a broad collection of churches realized the need for mental health services within the then largely Mennonite community. The achievement of this cooperative effort was realized in the same year that Canada celebrated its Centennial. Since those beginnings, Eden Health Care Services has broadened its range of services to not only include critical mental health care but to also include housing, career counselling, mental health counselling within the community, family counselling and addictions counselling.
Come listen to two fine southern Manitoba choirs on Sunday April 9th at 7 pm at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 750 15th Street, Winkler. There is no admission charge but there will be an opportunity to support the programs of Eden Health Care Services.
