Hours of Work:TERM, April 1 to September 30. 0.6 FTE
Starting Salary: $30/hour

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Eden Foundation Director of Development, this position leads the planning, organizing, and successful execution of all Eden Foundation events.

Education/Certification:

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in event planning required
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to develop detailed event plans and budgets, track event expenses, seek approval for variances as required
  • Ability to recruit and train volunteers
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office applications. Blackbaud experience an asset.
  • Ability to work with and relate to a wide variety of people, including staff, public, business owners, donors, and volunteers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to learn and grow through coaching and professional development
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Ability to exhibit a strong sense of ownership for events
  • Demonstrated understanding of the need for professional discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Winkler, Steinbach, and surrounding areas preferred
  • Ability to communicate in Low German an asset

Other Requirements and Conditions of Employment:

  • May be required to work at events on evenings or weekends
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (with the Vulnerable Sector Check)
  • Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Valid Driver’s License and use of vehicle
  • Current Vehicle Registration, indicating 3rd Party Liability Insurance of $1,000,000 or more\
    • Reimbursement available for work-related mileage

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Director or Development in planning and evaluation of fundraising and other events
  • Creates detailed plans and carries out fundraising events, under the direction of the Director of Development. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Scheduling
    • Advertising
    • Venues
    • Food
    • Sound, lighting, staging
    • Prizes, clothing, signage, swag
    • Volunteer recruitment and leadership
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date record of each event. This includes duties, tasks, phone numbers and contact information; as well as progress notes to refer to when planning future events
  • In conjunction with communications staff, coordinates event advertising – posters, newspapers, radio, social media, email/mail, Eden web site, other media and community websites, etc.
  • Provides all applicable parties with timely information to successfully complete their tasks
  • Ensures accuracy in processing and coding donations via Blackbaud as needed
  • Ensures adherence to event budget and notifies Director of Development of potential variances
  • Other duties as assigned
