Mental Health Awareness Week
National Mental Health Awareness Week is held annually, the first week of May. This year, Eden is hosting a variety of events, all week long, May 1-5th, 7-9pm at Winkler Arts & Culture!
Details will be announced as they are confirmed, but here’s what the week looks like so far:
May 1st: Newcomer Stories: come and hear the stories of those who have immigrated to our communities. The hurdles they’ve overcome to get here, and what it’s been like to “find themselves” again, in unfamiliar surroundings. Guest speakers: Zahid Zehri, Yevgeniya Tatarenko, Shepherd Chiwandire.
May 2nd: Eden Health Care Services: Community Mental Health Clinician Cheryl Dyck will lead a mindfulness session, followed by Music Therapy with Certified Music Therapist Joel Klassen. Recovery of Hope Counsellor Andrea Dyck will give a presentation.
May 3rd: PAINT NIGHT!! Winkler Arts & Culture will be facilitating a paint night, focused on mental health.
May 4th: Pembina Counselling Centre will present a Counsellors forum, with Christine Elias, and Paul Penner.
May 5th: Mental Health Stories in our Community, featuring guest speaker, Fire Chief Richard Paetzold.
