Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Housing and Supports Manager, the Housing Support Worker assists in carrying out housing and support plans, outreach to tenants, and rehabilitation and support functions. This would include skill building, linking to and maintaining formal and informal support network. The Housing Support Worker will use Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Principles in carrying out their regular duties. This position works out of the Enns Courts housing unit in Winkler, and works in close collaboration with Linden Place.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
o Post-secondary education in Human Services, other related disciplines, and/or equivalent experience required
o Valid First Aid Certificate
Experience:
o Experience in mental health preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
o Knowledge of Manitoba Residential Tenancy Act and Guidelines an asset
o Knowledge of mental illnesses/mental health issues and recovery.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participation in Planning and Intervention with Tenants
• Provide Rehabilitation and Support Services to Tenants
• Participate in development and implementation of housing options
• As needed and at the request of the Manager, provides coverage for Linden Place during regularly scheduled HSW shifts. Should they choose, the incumbent is able to work evening, weekend or night shifts at Linden Place, as well.
