On Saturday, September 24th the third annual Ride for Recovery of Hope took place. This ride is an initiative from our Recovery of Hope counselling program, as a fundraiser to off-set the costs of the sliding fee scale.
Recovery of Hope has its main office in Winnipeg and satellite offices in four rural communities; Steinbach, Altona, Winkler, and Portage la Prairie. The counselling services are delivered by a counsellor with a minimum of master’s level education to clients and families. The counsellors services are available on a sliding scale fee program or through professional Employee and Family Assistance Programs (EFAP) for subscribing employers. There is also a CARE (Congregation Assist Restore and Enrich) program available to subscribing church congregations to provide counseling services for their members.
Nearly 40 cyclists registered and collected pledges and funds to help the cause. While many rode “virtually” (On their own time), a good group showed up on the drizzly event morning to participate in person. A last-minute decision to change the route due to construction didn’t hinder the enthusiasm to take part, starting and ending at Canadian Mennonite University, where the Fall Festival was underway.
Once we have accounted for all of the donations, we will share the final fundraising number with you. THANK YOU to all who supported the cyclists’ fund raising efforts, and to the cyclists for making it a positive day!
